Cleaned and revarnished. There are fairly sporadic mostly horizontal retouches within the background and essentially contained to right hand side although not entirely. Three patches of retouching just right of Jamieson’s ear above the collar of his jacket – each approx. 0.5cm by 0.5cm and two of a similar size just below his left shoulder within the sleeve of his jacket. As the board is showing through by execution as an unfinished sketch etc… and therefore the grain of the panel is also apparent. Most notable possibly as can be seen on associated images is that a photograph of the artist within a plastic wallet has been cellotaped to the surface in the lower right hand corner. Otherwise in a good and stable state of preservation.

We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
