Estimated at £2,000 - £3,000
. Reline of significant age. Covered in a layer of dirt and discoloured and deteriorated varnish which is showing with an opaque quality particularly in line with the fine to medium sized stable craquelure throughout. Larger sized more pronounced craquelure around the prominent white rose in bloom may be showing signs of precarious tendencies. Some general rubbing and essentially minor losses to outer edges. Both with the naked eye and particularly under UV one can ascertain a significant and consistent course of overpainting and strengthening to the background immediately around the display of flowers, somewhat above the ledge on which they sit, the majority of the ledge and the lower two thirds of the background on the right hand side. The glass vase whilst not showing interference under UV, the red bloom and the two bloods adjacent to this may have had some intervention as arguably are not as delicately or sensitively painted as much of the other flora and fauna. Relatively subtle stretcher shadow. Patch repair to reverse in line with horizontal stretcher. For more information please contact the department.

We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
