Taxidermy: North American Wapiti or Elk (Cervus canadensis nelsoni), dated 1985, Howlett and Port Lympne Estates, Kent, UK, a very large set of adult bull antlers on upper skull, 17 points (8+9), widest spread 54'', height 56'', mounted upon a narrow shaped oak shield, bearing identification plaque. Annie recalls - ''These antlers were acquired from a park in Kent where Wapiti were bred and kept, we had a lovely day with Mr Lockyer visiting the park, he gave us this set of superb antlers, and a few months later he gave us the colour photograph to accompany the mount. It was a wonderful day and we enjoyed it thoroughly, they no longer keep Wapiti within the park as they become too dangerous when in the rut''.
