. in an original state of preservation. covered in a thick layer of dirt, thick coloured varnish and bloom. the canvas is slightly loose on the stretcher and is buckling in some places. also showing signs of minor rubbing to edges. there are apporx 3 to 4 fairly pronounced horizontal lines of cracking to the paint as a result of the loss of tension to canvas and possible damp envirnment which run the full width and slightly beyond of the figure and are situated at roughly hip height of the lady and below. Not examined under UV light

Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
