Sale Information

The sale contains a variety of exciting material to interest collectors of maps and atlases, travel and exploration, British topography, antiquarian literature, cookery, natural history, autographs, manuscripts and documents, children’s and illustrated books, modern first editions and photography. Highlights include a collection of inscribed C. S. Lewis titles from the collection of his lifelong friend Cecil Harwood (1898-1975), a first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (1997) in exceptional condition, books removed from Delamere House, Cheshire, including Charles James Fox’s copy of Voltaire’s L’evangile de la raison (1765), and selections from the library at Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire, notably a 1660 Cambridge Bible in a fine Restoration binding by Samuel Mearne, a set of signed limited editions of works by Arthur Rackham, and a manuscript recipe book from the late 17th century. For an additional preview please click here.
